If you've only ridden a yellow school bus, a modern charter bus is going to be a surprise. Reclining seats, climate control, an onboard washroom, Wi-Fi, HD TVs, power outlets at every seat — closer to a private jet than a school bus.
We get this question from first-time charter clients all the time, especially school trip parents and corporate event planners who haven't booked a coach before. Here's what to expect on a typical 56-passenger motor coach.

What's onboard
Standard features on a modern charter bus.
Reclining high-back seats
Cloth-upholstered, reclining 10–15 degrees, with cup holders. Aisle seats fold inward for easier boarding.
Onboard washroom
Yes — at the rear of the bus. Maintained between trips. Use is allowed throughout the ride.
Wi-Fi
Standard onboard. Speed varies by location — solid in cities, weaker in mountain dead zones.
HD TVs
Multiple HD screens with DVD/streaming inputs. Driver can play movies on long trips if requested.
Power outlets
At every seat. Standard 110V North American outlets (some seats also have USB-A). Bring your own cable.
Climate control
Front-to-back HVAC. Drivers adjust based on group preference — ask if it's too cold or warm.
Overhead storage
Personal items, jackets, small bags. Don't put valuables here on long trips.
Cargo bays
Large lockable underbelly bays for luggage, sports equipment, conference materials.
PA system
Driver can address the group; optional rear handheld microphone for tour guides.
What to bring
Packing for a charter bus trip.
Phone + charger
Power outlets at every seat. Bring your own cable.
Snacks & drinks
Most trips allow food and non-alcoholic drinks. Confirm in advance.
Layer
Climate-controlled but personal preferences vary. A light layer is always smart.
Headphones
TV audio plays through the bus speakers; if you want your own audio, bring headphones.
Entertainment
Books, tablet, downloaded shows. Wi-Fi works but isn't reliable in mountain areas.
What's NOT allowed
Standard charter bus rules.
Smoking (anywhere on the bus)
Including vapes/e-cigs. Strictly prohibited on all coaches.
Illegal substances
Federal law applies. Driver will involve law enforcement if needed.
Alcohol (unless pre-approved)
Alcohol on board is permitted only when explicitly approved in your booking and where legal.
Standing while moving
Everyone must be belted and seated when the bus is in motion.
Pets (except service animals)
Service animals always welcome. Other pets case-by-case for private group bookings.
